How Long Does It Take For Breast Implants To Drop?

Most women are eager for their implants to drop after their breast augmentation procedure. The majority of our breast augmentation patients ask how long does it take for breast implants to drop. The answer for each person is a different because the implants adjusting to their final position depends on a number of factors.

• Swelling in the days after a breast augmentation procedure will effect the appearance the breasts. As swelling subsides and the muscle and tissue surrounding the implants adjust, the implants will begin to drop.
• Remember that your breast tissue will be tighter than is was before your breast augmentation, especially if this is your first breast augmentation or if you had a breast revision to a larger implant. Over time your skin will stretch to comfortably accommodate your new implants.
• The type and size of the implants can also have an effect on how fast your implants drop to their final position. Dropping can take longer with textured implants and larger smooth implants may drop faster.

In most cases breast implants will start to drop or fluff within a few days and reach their final appearance and position within about 5 to 6 weeks. Your new implants will be completely settled in around 90 days.  But again, this process varies from patient to patient. Don’t be nervous if your breast implants haven’t dropped in that time-frame.
