Your Initial Consultation

During your initial consultation, it’s important to discuss your expectations frankly. Dr. Csikai understands that every patient has different goals and will be careful to understand yours so that he can properly set your expectations.

Your consultation will include a close examination and measurements of your breasts. Dr. Csikai will discuss variables that may affect his recommendations. And he will give consideration to your age, the size and shape of your breasts, the condition of your skin and if implants will help you achieve your goals. You should also discuss nipple and areola position as they will be moved up during the procedure.

Dr. Csikai will describe the procedure in detail and explain any risks and limitations. This will include describing incision locations that will result in visible scaring and discoloration initially but with care and the use of products such as SCARGUARD REPAIR LIQUID and NUVADERMIS Silicone Scar Tape, scars from your breast lift can be greatly reduced over time.

After your consultation with Dr. Csikai and if you feel completely comfortable and would like to proceed with a breast lift in Jacksonville at First Coast Plastic Surgery, you will meet with our surgery coordinator who will confirm all of the decisions you and Dr. Csikai have made. Your surgery date will be scheduled and you will be given important instructions on how to prepare for your surgery including guidelines on eating and drinking, smoking, and taking or avoiding certain vitamins.

Breast Lift Surgery

Breast lift surgery is an outpatient procedure and is performed at First Coast Plastic Surgery’s on-site ambulatory surgical center with the patient under general anesthesia.

Aesthetically speaking a breast lift procedure will lift breast tissue, nipple and areola to create and improve symmetry, firmness and a more youthful appearance. Breast implants can be added to produce volume, and if your areolas are larger than you like, they can also be reduced during the procedure. Depending on all that can be involved in a breast lift, the procedure can take anywhere from approximately an hour and a half to three and a half hours. The appropriate approach and techniques used will depend on a variety factors and your goals. Your breast shape and size, degree of sagging, amount of extra skin will all be carefully considered. Dr. Csikai will recommend one of the following incision options:

• Circumareolar (Doughnut) Incision: Some patients, especially those with relatively small breasts and minimal sagging may be candidates for this modified procedure that requires less incisions and barely visible scaring. Incisions are made around the edge of the areola and another outer circular incision is made as required. The skin between the two incisions is removed and the remain beast skin drawn in is reattached at the edge of the areola. The differences in skin to make the scar at the edge of the areola almost invisible after full recovery.
• Vertical (Lollipop) Incision This incision pattern is best suited to patients with smaller breast sizes, especially when breast implants are added to restore volume. It consists of a circular incision around the areola and a second vertical incision from the bottom of the areola down. The addition of the downward incision allows for additional contouring of the breasts.
• Wise (Anchor) Incision: As with the other two incision patterns, The anchor incisions are made around the areola, then from the bottom of the areola down to the fold, (where the bottom of the breast meets the torso, and another incision is made horizontally in the fold, centered on the vertical incision. The wise incision allows for most reshaping and contouring.
