In your initial consultation, Dr. Csikai will want to hear your goals and clearly understand what you would like to change about your appearance. He will also evaluate your health and the condition of your skin. If you are in good physical health and have realistic goals, Dr. Csikai will recommend the procedures that will be necessary to achieve your goals. Dr. Csikai will also explain each of the procedures that will make up your mommy makeover and answer any questions that you might have.

If you and Dr. Csikai agree that a mommy makeover is right for you, a surgery coordinator will provide you with detailed information about preparing for the procedure, including guidelines on eating and drinking, smoking, and taking or avoiding certain vitamins, supplements and medications. If you smoke, it is especially important to stop smoking at least a week or two before your surgery and during your recovery period. Smoking inhibits blood flow to the skin, and can slow your recovery and affect your final results. About The Mommy Makeover Procedure

As mentioned earlier, a mommy makeover procedure is actually a combination of procedures designed to help women regain their former youthful shape after giving birth and nursing. Every patient is physically unique and has their own specific goals. This requires Dr. Csikai to customize which procedures will be assembled for each patient’s unique mommy makeover.

While most mommy makeovers focus on the abdomen and breasts, the face, upper arms, waist, hips, buttocks, and thighs can also be addressed. An added benefit to the mommy makeover is that the combining of treatment areas into one same procedure is often less expensive than having the same treatments separately. However, patient safety must always be considered and can limit the number of areas that can be treated in a single mommy makeover procedure.

Dr. Csikai performs most mommy makeover procedures at First Coast Plastic Surgery’s on-site state licensed ambulatory surgical center. Other more complicated mommy makeovers are performed at area surgery centers. Patient’s are usually placed under general anesthesia. However, some minor liposuction procedures can be performed under sedation and local anesthesia. This is a decision that will have been discussed and made during the initial consultation.

Recovery After A Mommy Makeover

Recovery after a mommy makeover varies greatly from patient to patient because of the different procedures that may or may not have been performed. Dr. Csikai will explain the recovery process that you can expect for your mommy makeover so you will know before your surgery. On average, the initial recovery period of rest without any strenuous activities is from one to three weeks again, depending on which procedures were performed.

Patients whose mommy makeovers are comprised of a breast augmentation and abdominal liposuction will likely be able to return to light work within a week or so. Patients who underwent a tummy tuck, breast reduction and additional areas of liposuction may need to rest for two to three weeks before returning to light work. But once the recovery period has passed, the final results can be amazing and patients are thrilled to have their pre-child baring appearance back.
