A Natural Way to Sculpt, Lift and Tone Your Bottom
The Brazilian Butt Lift
People who elect to have a Brazilian Butt Lift often choose this procedure because of how it can improve their appearance in a variety of ways. But before we explore the benefits, lets cover the basics. A Brazilian Butt Lift or BBL is a procedure that safely transfers unwanted fat from certain areas of your body to you buttocks. This procedure actually involves a few different but related procedures. The purpose of this procedure is to shape and contour, lift and or increase the size of one’s bottom. The Brazilian Butt Lift has become increasingly popular in recent years with the advancements in body contouring and fat transfer.
Fat transfer is a key component of the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure and offers a number of benefits. You can discuss where you would prefer excess body fat to be collected from and together you will determine the best location based on your goals and Dr. Csikai’s recommendations. Liposuction is typically performed on and sculpts the lower back, hips and upper thighs. And fat is usually harvested from one or two of these areas depending on the amount of fat required for the procedure. The resulting fat reduction in these areas not only removes unwanted, excess fat, it also serves as the first step to enhancing your buttocks by shrinking and sculpting surrounding areas. If you are interested in a BBL due to major weight loss, Dr. Csikai may recommend a buttocks lift to remove excess skin.
During liposuction, your fat is collected into a closed sterile system where it awaits the purification process. After collecting the required amount of fat, a series of steps are performed to purify and separate a portion of the collected fat that will be transferred.
The last step in this procedure is to inject the prepared fat into the buttocks. Hundreds of fat injections are performed at varying depths and in various areas to achieve the desired shape and size. “Extra” fat is injected which will cause the initial results of the procedure to produce a larger appearance then the final results. This is done because a some of your fat will not survive the transfer, dies and is simply absorbed by the body. The other reason is because of initial swelling. However, after a few weeks most swelling and tenderness will have subsided, and after six to eight weeks, Dr. Csikai will most likely approve regular activities and high impact exercise as you enjoy your shapely new bottom.

Recovering from your BBL Procedure

It is important to follow these instructions to help the transferred fat cells become a part of your circulatory system and survive the transfer.
Everyone recovers from procedures a little differently and Dr. Csikai will monitor guide you through your recovery based on your progress and the various aspects of your particular procedure. That said, below are some of the most important aspects of recovery:
- For this type of procedure, compression garments are very important for both the areas where liposuction was performed and to assure a shapely new bottom. Compression garments help control swelling and they also contribute to achieving a smooth appearance to your final results.
- Immediately after your procedure when you go home, plan on resting with little to no activity. It is reasonable to expect a moderate amount of pain for up to five days after your procedure. However, over-the-counter pain medication will likely keep you comfortable.
- It is important not to site on your bottom for up to two weeks. In the initial two weeks the transferred fat cells are settling in to their new home and any pressure can limit circulation and cause fat cells that would have otherwise survived to die. We will help you with how to position yourself while recovering and sleeping.
- Dr. Csikai will let you know as soon as you can begin to move around a little more actively but not excessively. It is important to go easy for a few weeks will still being mildly active as this help to prevent blood clots.
- Understand that your new bottom may appear larger than expected. Don’t be alarmed. Extra fat is injected during your procedure in anticipation of the fact that some of your transferred fat will not survive. Swelling from the injections is also playing a part in the initial appearance of your new bottom. Over time, a portion of the fat cells will die and be absorbed by your body and swelling will subside.
After about six weeks, your transferred fat cells become fully grafted in their new home, the fat cells that didn’t survive the transfer will have been absorbed by your body and most of the swelling will be gone. Around this time Dr. Csikai will likely permit you to resume normal activities and higher impact fat burning exercise. Usually by week eight, all swelling is gone and you are completely recovered with a brand new bottom.
