During tummy tuck consultations, I am often asked about pregnancy after a tummy tuck. After fully recovering from a tummy tuck, it is ok to get pregnant. Patients who get pregnant after a tummy tuck are no different than women who have not had a tummy tuck. Both are equally capable of a healthy, full-term pregnancy.
However, if you are planning on a future pregnancy after a tummy tuck, I would recommend waiting until you are finished having children. I recommend waiting because a pregnancy is likely to undo some of what was done to improve your abdominal appearance. The full tummy tuck procedure involves tightening the vertical muscles of the abdomen by pulling them close together and suturing them into their new position. This provides more contouring, creates a firmer abdominal wall and narrows the waistline.

Everyone knows that the abdominal wall is stretched considerably during a full term pregnancy. This means that tightening of the abdominal wall could be undone and you could again have loose, sagging skin and a separation or weakening of the abdominal muscles. Possibly to the point that you might want to repeat the tummy tuck procedure.
