Breast Augmentation With Lift in Jacksonville, Florida
Restore Breast Volume, Shape, and Youthful Position with One Customized Procedure
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight changes, aging, and genetics can all affect the size, shape, and position of a woman’s breasts. In my practice, I often see patients who have lost breast volume while also developing stretched skin and sagging. When both concerns are present, breast implants alone may restore fullness but may not adequately improve the position or shape of the breast.
Breast augmentation with lift in Jacksonville combines breast implant surgery with a breast lift, or mastopexy, during the same procedure. The implant restores or enhances breast volume, while the breast lift removes excess skin and reshapes the surrounding breast tissue. I can also reposition the nipple and areola when necessary to create a more balanced, youthful breast contour.
As a board-certified plastic surgeon, I carefully evaluate each patient before recommending a breast augmentation with lift in Jacksonville. I consider existing breast tissue, skin elasticity, nipple position, breast symmetry, chest dimensions, and the patient’s goals when developing the surgical plan. Implant size and type, incision placement, and the amount of lifting required are all individualized rather than approached with a single technique.
My goal is to create breasts that are fuller and better positioned while maintaining proportions that complement the patient’s body. During the consultation, I explain what breast augmentation and mastopexy can realistically accomplish, discuss the tradeoffs involved, including the necessary breast lift scars and help each patient decide whether combining the two procedures is the appropriate choice for her.

What Is Breast Augmentation with Lift?
A breast augmentation with lift in Jacksonville is a surgical procedure that combines breast augmentation and mastopexy to address two different concerns: loss of breast volume and sagging, or ptosis. Breast augmentation primarily increases volume and fullness, while a breast lift reshapes and elevates breast tissue that has descended or stretched over time.
During the augmentation portion of the procedure, I use a breast implant to add volume and help establish the desired breast size and projection. Depending on the patient’s anatomy and goals, different implant sizes, profiles, and types can be considered. The implant itself, however, does not remove loose skin or reliably correct significant breast sagging.
The breast lift addresses those concerns by removing excess skin, reshaping and supporting the existing breast tissue, and repositioning the nipple and areola when necessary. The amount of lifting required varies considerably among patients. Some women need only a limited lift, while others require more extensive reshaping to achieve an appropriate breast and nipple position.
By performing both procedures together, I can address breast volume, shape, position, projection, and symmetry as part of one surgical plan. A breast augmentation with lift in Jacksonville can be particularly appropriate for women whose breasts have changed following pregnancy, breastfeeding, significant weight changes, or aging and who need more correction than either augmentation or a breast lift could provide alone.
The decision to combine these procedures requires careful surgical planning. Adding volume with an implant while simultaneously tightening the breast envelope involves balancing implant selection, existing breast tissue, skin quality, and the degree of lift required. I evaluate all of these factors during the consultation to determine whether a combined procedure is appropriate and what approach is most likely to produce a natural, proportionate result.

Who Is a Good Candidate?
Women I evaluate for breast augmentation with lift in Jacksonville often have two concerns occurring together: loss of breast volume and sagging. The breasts may appear deflated, elongated, asymmetrical, or lower on the chest following pregnancy, breastfeeding, significant weight loss, or aging. Women whose nipples have descended to or below the breast crease, point downward, or have stretched areolas may also benefit from combining an implant with a breast lift.
Good candidates should be in appropriate overall health and have realistic expectations about what surgery can accomplish. During the consultation, I evaluate breast shape, existing breast tissue, skin elasticity, nipple position, and the degree of sagging. I also review medical history, medications, smoking or nicotine use, and other factors that could affect surgical safety or healing.
Candidacy for breast augmentation with lift in Jacksonville is ultimately determined individually. Women planning a pregnancy or substantial weight loss may benefit from postponing surgery because these changes can affect breast volume, skin, and long-term results. My goal is to determine whether combining augmentation and mastopexy can safely provide the patient with a natural, proportionate improvement in breast size, shape, and position.

Choosing the Right Breast Implant
Choosing the appropriate breast implant is an important part of planning a breast augmentation with lift in Jacksonville. Implant selection involves much more than deciding how large a patient would like her breasts to be. The implant must work with the patient’s existing breast tissue, chest dimensions, skin quality, and the amount of lifting and reshaping required.
I offer saline, silicone gel, and highly cohesive silicone gel implants, often referred to as gummy bear implants. Each has different characteristics involving feel, shape, projection, and how the implant behaves within the breast. During the consultation, I explain these differences and help each patient understand which options are appropriate for her anatomy and goals.
My goal is to select an implant that provides the desired increase in volume while remaining proportionate to the patient’s body and compatible with the breast lift I am performing. Implant type, dimensions, profile, and placement are considered together when I develop the surgical plan.
Breast Implant Sizes
Breast implants are measured in cubic centimeters (cc), not traditional bra cup sizes. Although many women considering breast augmentation with lift in Jacksonville tell me the approximate cup size they would like to achieve, bra sizing varies considerably among manufacturers and is not precise enough to use as the primary method of selecting an implant.
Instead, I consider the width of the patient’s chest and breasts, existing breast tissue, skin elasticity, overall body proportions, and the amount of volume being restored. Implant width, projection, and profile are just as important as the number of cubic centimeters. The degree of breast sagging and the amount of tissue being repositioned during the lift must also be considered.
During the consultation, I help patients compare implant sizes and proportions so they can better understand how different choices may affect their appearance. My objective is not simply to select a particular volume, but to choose an implant that complements the patient’s anatomy and works appropriately with the breast lift to create a balanced result.
Types of Breast Implants
For breast augmentation with lift in Jacksonville, I offer several breast implant options, including saline, silicone gel, and highly cohesive silicone gel implants. Each type has characteristics that can make it more appropriate for certain patients, and there is no single implant that is the best choice for every woman.
In addition to the material inside the implant, I consider characteristics such as implant shape, width, projection, profile, and surface when making recommendations. These variables can influence breast fullness, contour, and how the implant fits within the available breast tissue and chest dimensions.
During the consultation, patients can see and feel different implants while I explain the advantages, limitations, and relevant considerations associated with each option. This is especially important when planning a combined augmentation and lift because implant selection must complement the breast reshaping being performed. Together, we can select an implant based on the patient’s anatomy, preferences, and realistic goals for surgery.
Saline
Breast Implants

Saline breast implants have a silicone outer shell that I fill with sterile saline solution after the implant has been inserted and positioned. Because the implant is filled during surgery, I can make limited adjustments to the volume of each implant when appropriate. This can be helpful when addressing differences in breast size or symmetry as part of a breast augmentation with lift in Jacksonville.
One advantage of saline implants is that a rupture is usually noticeable because the affected breast loses volume as the saline leaves the implant shell. The saline itself is harmlessly absorbed by the body, although surgery is required to remove and replace the deflated implant if the patient chooses to maintain her augmentation.
Saline implants are available in different sizes and profiles, and I consider the patient’s existing breast tissue, chest dimensions, skin characteristics, and desired appearance when determining whether they are an appropriate option. Saline breast implants are FDA-approved for augmentation in women age 18 and older. During the consultation, I discuss their benefits and limitations compared with silicone gel implants so each patient can make an informed choice.
Silicone
Breast Implants
Silicone breast implants have a silicone outer shell filled with cohesive silicone gel. The gel is designed to provide a soft feel and movement that can closely resemble natural breast tissue. For many of my patients considering breast augmentation with lift in Jacksonville, silicone implants are an appealing option because of the natural feel and breast contour they can provide.
Silicone implants are available in a wide range of sizes, dimensions, and profiles, which allows me to select an implant based on the patient’s chest width, existing breast tissue, body proportions, and desired degree of fullness. When performing an augmentation with a lift, I also consider how the implant will work with the reshaped breast tissue and the amount of skin being removed.
For cosmetic breast augmentation, FDA-approved silicone gel implants are available to women age 22 and older. Unlike saline implants, a silicone implant rupture may not cause an obvious change in breast size or appearance. I discuss this difference, along with current recommendations for monitoring silicone implants during the consultation so patients understand the benefits and considerations before choosing their implants.
Shaped Gel
Breast Implants

Mentor CPG shaped gel breast implants have a silicone outer shell filled with a highly cohesive silicone gel that helps the implant maintain its shape. Sometimes referred to as gummy bear implants, their anatomical or teardrop shape provides greater fullness toward the lower portion of the breast with a more gradual slope toward the upper breast. For selected patients considering breast augmentation with lift in Jacksonville, this can provide another option for creating a natural breast contour.
Unlike most round silicone implants, Mentor CPG implants have a textured surface designed to help maintain the orientation of the shaped implant within the breast pocket. This is important because rotation of an anatomically shaped implant can alter the appearance of the breast. Textured breast implants also have specific risks and safety considerations, which I discuss carefully with patients when evaluating whether this type of implant is appropriate.
Shaped cohesive gel implants are available in different sizes, dimensions, and degrees of projection. When considering them for a breast augmentation with lift in Jacksonville, I evaluate the patient’s chest dimensions, existing breast tissue, skin characteristics, degree of sagging, and desired breast shape. Silicone gel implants used for cosmetic breast augmentation are FDA-approved for women age 22 and older.

The Breast Augmentation Procedure
Implant Placement
Implant placement is an important part of planning a breast augmentation with lift in Jacksonville because the position of the implant can affect breast shape, implant coverage, projection, and the overall surgical result. During the consultation, I evaluate the amount and quality of existing breast tissue, chest anatomy, skin characteristics, implant selection, degree of breast sagging, and the type of lift that will be required.
For many of my augmentation-with-lift patients, I recommend placing the implant at least partially beneath the pectoralis major chest muscle. However, implant placement is not a decision I make based on a single rule. I select the approach that provides appropriate implant coverage and works best with the breast tissue reshaping and skin removal being performed during the lift.
Subpectoral Placement (Under the Muscle)
Subpectoral placement positions the breast implant at least partially beneath the pectoralis major muscle and is commonly referred to as “under the muscle” placement. Depending on the surgical technique, the muscle typically covers the upper portion of the implant while the lower portion is supported by the surrounding breast tissues. This can provide additional implant coverage and help create a smoother transition between the upper chest and breast.
I frequently consider subpectoral placement for women undergoing breast augmentation with lift in Jacksonville, particularly when existing breast tissue is relatively thin. The additional tissue coverage can make implant edges and rippling less visible and may help produce a more natural upper breast contour. Subpectoral placement has also been associated with a lower incidence of capsular contracture compared with some forms of subglandular placement.
Implant position must still be individualized. Existing breast tissue, implant dimensions, chest anatomy, the amount of lifting required, and the patient’s desired appearance all influence my recommendation. During the consultation, I explain why I recommend a particular placement and how that choice relates to the other components of the augmentation and breast lift.
The Breast Lift Procedure
I perform the breast lift portion of breast augmentation with lift in Jacksonville as an outpatient procedure at First Coast Plastic Surgery’s fully accredited on-site surgical center. The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and is customized according to the amount of breast sagging, excess skin, nipple position, existing breast tissue, and the degree of reshaping needed to achieve the patient’s goals.
During the lift, I remove excess skin and reshape the breast tissue to elevate and improve the contour of the breast. I also reposition the nipple and areola to a more appropriate position while preserving their attachment to the underlying breast tissue. If the areolas have stretched or enlarged over time, I can usually reduce their diameter during the same procedure to create better proportion with the newly shaped breast.
The incision pattern I use depends primarily on the degree of ptosis, or sagging, and how much excess skin must be removed. Patients with relatively mild sagging may be candidates for a circumareolar, or doughnut, incision around the areola. This approach allows limited skin removal and repositioning while keeping the incision confined to the border of the areola.
For moderate sagging, I may recommend a vertical, or lollipop, breast lift. This technique includes an incision around the areola and another extending vertically from the lower edge of the areola toward the breast crease. The additional incision gives me greater ability to remove excess skin, reshape the breast, and improve its position and projection.
When significant sagging or excess skin is present, a Wise pattern, commonly called an anchor incision, may be necessary. This adds an incision along the breast crease and provides the greatest ability to remove excess skin and reshape the breast. Although it results in more extensive scarring, the additional access can be necessary to achieve an appropriate correction in patients with substantial ptosis.
When planning a breast augmentation with lift in Jacksonville, I select the least extensive incision pattern that will allow me to accomplish the necessary lifting and reshaping safely and predictably. During the consultation, I explain the recommended technique, where the incisions will be located, and the scars the patient should expect so she can make an informed decision.
The Benefits of Combining Both Procedures
The primary benefit of breast augmentation with lift in Jacksonville is that I can address breast volume and breast position as part of the same surgical plan. An implant can restore fullness and projection, but it cannot reliably correct significant sagging. A breast lift can elevate and reshape the breast, but it does not provide the same increase in volume that can be achieved with an implant. Combining the procedures allows me to address both concerns.
Performing augmentation and mastopexy together also means that, in appropriate candidates, both corrections can be accomplished with one operation, one anesthesia event, and one recovery period. This can avoid the additional recovery time associated with undergoing two separate procedures. However, combining the surgeries requires careful planning because the implant adds volume while the breast lift simultaneously tightens and reshapes the surrounding tissues.
Another important advantage is the ability to coordinate implant selection with the breast lift itself. When planning a breast augmentation with lift in Jacksonville, I consider implant size, projection, breast tissue, skin elasticity, nipple position, and the amount of skin being removed together. This allows me to create a more balanced relationship between breast fullness, shape, and position than either procedure may be able to achieve alone.
Recovery After Breast Augmentation with Lift
Recovery after breast augmentation with lift in Jacksonville varies depending on the extent of the breast lift, implant placement, and each patient’s individual healing response. During the first several days, patients can expect swelling, tightness, bruising, and soreness. I typically have patients wear a supportive surgical bra as directed and encourage light walking soon after surgery to promote circulation. Lifting, strenuous exercise, and activities that place stress on the chest should be avoided during the initial healing period.
I provide detailed postoperative instructions and monitor each patient’s recovery through scheduled follow-up visits. Normal daily activities and non-strenuous work can usually be resumed gradually as healing progresses, while exercise and heavier activities require additional time. I advise each patient when these activities can be safely resumed. Swelling decreases progressively, and the implants and breast tissues continue to settle over time, so the final results of a breast augmentation with lift in Jacksonville should not be judged during the early stages of recovery.

Scaring and Healing
All breast augmentation with lift procedures involve surgical incisions, which means some degree of scarring is expected.
Incision placement is carefully planned to allow effective lifting and reshaping while keeping scars as discreet as possible. Scars typically fade significantly over time. Scar visibility has become far less of a concern thanks to advancements in scar treatment products and post-operative care. Proven options like SCARGUARD® Repair Liquid and NUVADERMIS™ Silicone Scar Tape are often recommended to help reduce scar thickness, improve skin tone, and minimize discoloration. With proper care, most scars fade significantly over time and can be easily concealed by bras or swimwear. Following post-operative care instructions, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and protecting healing scars from excessive sun exposure can help support optimal scar maturation.
Most patients find that the improvement in breast shape and position significantly outweigh concerns regarding scars.
