Thousands of people use Botox injections daily, so as someone who may have never heard of or utilized Botox injections, you may be wonder, exactly what is Botox and what are its possible side effects?

Botox is purified botulinum toxin and is used cosmetically to prevent or lessen the lines caused by muscle movement.

Dysport is a competitor’s product that does exactly the same thing but begins to work within 48 hours whereas Botox can take 4 to 7 days.  The Dysport toxin works by directly paralyzing the muscles it is injected into.  It works best for lines between the eyebrows and forehead lines but can also be used for crow’s feet and lines around the mouth and neck.

Dysport reports that there are very few side effects such as the allergic reactions sometimes caused by Botox.  Headache is the most common side effect caused by Botox. And if the toxin migrates to the eyelid muscles eyelid, ptosis or drooping of the eyelid can occur. The effects of Botox can last 3 months or more in most individuals.
