Will I gain weight after breast augmentation?

During consults, I have been asked this question many times, “what about weight gain after breast augmentation?” In general my answer is,  “The only weight gain you should experience is the weight of the implants.”

After the placement of an average size breast implants, the weight gain should be about a pound or a little more per implant. Nothing catastrophic. There will be a little extra weight gained from the initial swelling but that should go away with time.
