The day of your breast augmentation, we require someone to drive you home. But if you are wondering how long after breast augmentation you can drive, most people are driving within a week.
The reason we recommend that you wait at least a week after breast augmentation to drive is mainly a safety issue. The patient would need to be off pain medicine, of course, and have the ability to move the arms and turn around as needed. My patient are able to get their arms comfortably over their heads by two days and are generally off pain medicine at that time.
Pain medicines can often impair drivers or make them drowsy and we recommend anyone taking pain medicines not to drive or operate a vehicle.
