South Beach Peel in Jacksonville

If you are looking for a South Beach Peel in Jacksonville, schedule a consultation with Dr. Csikai to discuss the benefits of this procedure and how it can eliminate fine facial wrinkles, acne, uneven pigment, and skin dryness.

What is a South Beach Peel?

A South Beach Peel is a unique peel in that it is comprised of two different cosmetic lasers rather than various forms of acids such as those used in Alpha Hydroxy Peels. The treatment can be adjusted for a variety of skin types and conditions and offers a quick recovery.

About our South Beach Peel in Jacksonville

As we mentioned above, the South Beach Peel combines two very versatile cosmetic lasers. An Intensive Pulse Light Laser, (IPL), a version of the Broadband Light, (BBL) Laser is first used to treat skin discolorations, such as sun damage, brown spots and freckles. The second laser treatment is a Microlaser Peel that removes the top layers of skin to rejuvenate the skin and tighten the underlying dermis to remove fine lines and wrinkles.

Preparing for Your South Beach Peel

Dr. Csikai recommends that patients who have have booked a South Beach Peel, avoid the sun and tanning for at least a week before their treatment. Also, if you are taking any any prescribed medications that can cause your skin to be more sensitive to the sun, ask you doctor about suspending the use of these medications for a week or so before your treatment.

Receiving a South Beach Peel

The South Beach Peel treatment begins with the application of a topical anesthesia about 30 minutes beforehand to make the treatment comfortable. The Broadband Light Laser is first used to gently heat and then cool the target areas of your skin. The heating stimulates the skin and causes it to produce collagen. Your skin uses the collagen to replace aged and damaged skin cells with fresh new, more evenly colored skin. The BBL laser offers an effective treatment for Age Spots or Sun Spots, can reduce or eliminate freckles, fade and eliminate pigmented lesions, and eliminate the effects of roseacea.

After the surface of skin is stimulated to grow new cells with a more consistent skin color and tone, the Microlaser Peel is used to rejuvenate the skin by removing the surface layers of skin and further stimulating your skin’s production of collagen. The Microlaser Peel tightens the skin and can be adjusted to penetrate your skin to varying depths depending on the condition, fine lines and wrinkles of your skin.

The combination of these two laser treatments used in the South Beach Peel results in a major reduction of spots and discoloration and a noticeable improvement in fine lines and wrinkles and takes less than an hour with little downtime.

What to Expect After Your South Beach Peel

Most of our patients experience a sensation similar to a bad sunburn for 15 or 20 minutes immediately after their treatment which is mitigated with an extra-strength Tylenol. You may also notice that dark spots appear darker in the days after your treatment. This is normal and will fade as your skin rejuvenates. Avoid the sun for a few weeks and allow your skin to recover fully and do not scrub your skin or attempt to rush your skins natural healing process. All that is necessary is to use a mild soap and heavy moisturizer for 3-7 days depending on the level of your treatment. We will of course provide you with guidelines to follow as you skin recovers to a new more youthfully smooth appearance with a more consistent tone and color.
