Jacksonville Breast Reduction
Also Known As Reduction Mammaplasty
Things you should know when considering a breast reduction...
Many women desire to have larger, more voluptuous breasts and opt to receive breast enlarging surgeries to achieve those results. For women who are born with large, pendulous breasts or develop them over time, discover that they may not be as desirable as most women think.
Many health issues and injuries stem from these conditions and can leave serious or permanent injuries in women. Some of these conditions include:
- Chronic back, neck and shoulder pain
- Poor posture
- Skin rash under the breasts
- Deep grooves in the shoulders from bra strap pressure
- Restricted levels of activity
- Self-esteem problems
- Difficulty wearing or fitting into certain bras and clothing
Who is a candidate for a Jacksonville breast reduction surgery?
Women, and some men, ranging from early teens to late 80s, are candidates for breast reduction or Reduction Mammaplasty surgery. However, younger women should consider not opting for the surgery until at least the age of 20, this is to make sure the breasts have gone through the fundamental developmental stages that a young women must go through.
We recommend that candidates for a breast reduction are those who are mature enough to fully understand the procedure of a breast reduction and have realistic expectations about the results. Breast reduction is not recommended for women who intend to breast-feed.
What to expect before and during your breast reduction surgery?
Before the surgery, Dr. Csikai will discuss options for your breast reduction surgery and give you a detailed description of what will occur during the procedure. Marks will be placed on your breast to outline where incisions will be made. Most breast reduction surgeries are performed under general anesthesia, inducing you into a temporary state of unconsciousness. Most breast reduction surgeries last between two to three hours. After your breast reduction procedure, you will be placed in a recovery room where we can monitor your results.
What to expect after your Jacksonville breast reduction surgery?
During the initial recovery period, after the breast reduction surgery, your breast will feel tender and sensitive. Bruising and swollen breast may also occur, but this is common after a breast reduction procedure. Scarring will be minimal and can be hidden by a bra or a swimsuit.
The recovery period can last from a few weeks to months, dependant upon daily routines, work and activities. Dr. Csikai will recommend the ideal amount of time your body needs to recover from your breast reduction surgery.
